Greetings from the College of Business. We have a long list of good news to share!
We recently graduated nearly 250 business students who are already Going Beyond Business As Usual. Ninety percent of students have jobs or are interviewing. The average salary of our graduates is $51,500 which is higher than the national average and among the highest of any business school in Ohio.
These successes are possible only through the dedication of our staff and faculty (including the winners of our Faculty Excellence Awards), the support of our business community partners, and the hard work of our students.
A couple weeks ago, our Hamilton Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership also achieved the incredible honor of being one of just 20 centers worldwide recognized by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for its commitment to creating and incubating cutting-edge business innovations and fostering entrepreneurship. AACSB is the world's premier business school accrediting agency.
E-Week
Just a couple weeks before that announcement, we celebrated a phenomenal E-Week with an estimated 4,000 students, faculty members, staff, alumni and business leaders from throughout the region on campus to attend our events.
Three BGSU alumni – Maribeth S. Rahe '70, '16 (Hon), Peggy Schmeltz '50, '70 and David Stickler '83 -- were inducted into the Hamilton Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership Hall of Fame; four of eight business ideas received some form of funding by Falcon Investors at The Hatch; and pursuing your passion was the focus at the Sebo Series in Entrepreneurship. Alumni presented to students throughout the week at Lunch and Learns, providing remarkable perspective to upcoming entrepreneurs. Please note that E-Week 2018 moves two weeks later, to April 16-20.
Fall 2017
Looking ahead, our fall class is taking shape and we expect high enrollment of new students, along with high retention from the freshman to sophomore year.
We are gearing up for the fall Women in Leadership Conference, the Business Analytics Symposium, Homecoming and Family Weekend. Mark your calendars:
Family Weekend - September 8-10
Homecoming - October 13-15
Women in Leadership - October 20
Business Analytics - October 27
We hope to see you at these events this fall! In the meantime, have a fun and relaxing summer, and please let me know of any success stories you would like to share. Biz News will return in September.
Warm regards,
Dean Ray Braun '80
